No matter how much automotive technology advances, it seems like the one constant was that they ran on gasoline. We switched to leaded gasoline to get rid of engine knock, switched back to unleaded gasoline when we realized how dangerous leaded was, and recently have started experimenting with electric cars, but the vast majority of cars are still powered by gas. Toyota aims to shake things up with the 2017 Toyota Mirai, the car powered by hydrogen fuel cells.
